In his first press conference for the New Year of 2008, Ban Ki-moon, the United Nations Secretary General said that this is a season to take stock of what has happened in the past and to look ahead to the future. When asked what his evaluation was of his first year as Secretary General, Ban said that journalists and others would have to determine the response to this question. It was not one the Secretary General felt able to answer.
