I didn’t watch the games since Bafana Bafana didn’t win the battle. But
I did watch Uruguay when it was playing with Ghana and that was most
wonderful, fantastic.
The game was a great game anyway even though they
didn’t make it. Even though Ghana and Uruguay had the same goals till
the end of the game. But I’m so pleased with Ghana because they tried
the best. Also I saw how people in my community and everywhere supported
Ghana. It was great to see the whole community supporting one team.
I was asking myself what went wrong. How do they do such a thing after so
many years not doing that. But I soon got an answer that we had been
looking for. And that was that Ghana is in Africa and also it was the
only team… weiter lesen

I enjoy the rhythm and vibe of the 2010 Fifa world cup and the different countries and races settled in the country for the world cup. The reason I am saying this is because it is the first time that Africa hosts the World Cup. Even if South Africa and other African countries are out of the tournament but we are still feeling it it on African soil. We are showing the whole world how Africa is manufactured.
As African we are showing what we are made off. Tourists can’t stop taking pictures of our country which is rich in ressources. What do I expect of the outstanding games? To be honest, I am not expecting anything from them because African countries are out. I am just blowing a vuvuzela for them so that they don’t feel left out. But the only one thing that I do expect is to… weiter lesen

I feel so bad that this is my last column. But I’m looking forward to
the semi-finals. I hoped and prayed that Ghana will represent Africa
very well. I’m proud of it. I liked the fact that Ghana got the first
goal. Even though they played dry, but they really played well. Each and
every team that is going to semi-finals played very well.
And I also think that Fifa should try and find a solution to these
referees. The way they rule they are not trained very well or they are
bribed. I think they are the ones who will win ruin the World Cup for
people. Already they should try and help them with technology called TV
tool to try and help them where they think there is a problem or where
tehy are not sure. Where they didn’t… weiter lesen

Individualism is a belief in which a soccer player does things in his own way without worrying about what other players think or do. I am saying this because yesterday I watched Ghana played against Uruguay. The score ended up being Uruguay 4 and Ghana 2 in penalty. I have started to realize that African soccer will never reach the world stage standards unless we talk about some of the contributory factor that is leading to our downfall as a continent. This issue of individualism is mostly evident particularly by the strikers. We got a lot of opportunities but without scoring goals. This to me is a serious problem that I think we need to overcome. I support fully the saying that united we stand divided we fall.
I regard the game between Ghana and Uruguay as the last African hope. But our hopes were shattered by the spirit of… weiter lesen

I am living in Sharpeville, the place is nice and interesting. Sometimes it is not. The most important thing is that I am from Sharpeville. My teachers always taught me about Apartheid and there was a big massacre in Sharpeville 1960. Many people died and I feel for those people.
I live an a small house. It is and RDP house (part of Government Reconstruction and Development Programme). It is not that small because we do have a kitchen, toilet, dining room and two bedrooms. And we also have river in the community.
These days I still do watch soccer games, but not every day. Our neighbours also have television and watch mostly at their houses when games are on. They so make noise when goals are scored. I really think that we should support the teams that are playing. Because they are here with us in our country. In… weiter lesen

Where I live there is no interest in soccer, they don’t even care how bis our houses are. We have a big yard, a big house, so what we have to do is to bring our families together and make some fun and braai. Make noise with the vuvuzuela, watch soccer together. Even if we do not reach the stadiums but we can still watch soccer at home. Because we do have TV’s and let us watch with the family.
But I do not see that happening in Vereeniging. I live there with my aunt. All I see is white people not enjoying soccer. And it is not that I am criticizing them. And why I see that is because it is the majority of black people that are trying to make our worl the funniest world and our tourists are enjoying the Worl Cup because of black people. They… weiter lesen

The people living in my neighbourhood are people who are always happy, but they dont want a strange to intimidate them or criticize the. Because they are people who get angry easily. They love each other like in a rainbow nation and celebrate each culture in its’ diversity. Each person is welcomed to stay in our heritage country. They treat people equally and with dignity. They dont mind if you are from a rich or poor family.
How do they watch the games? There are different people living in my neighbourhood. All of them have TV. But when watching soccer with others they gather in a secured place. Usually at night. In the community hall for example where police officers are present.
The other day when South Africa played Guatemala before the world cup and won 5:nil I watched it at a nearby shop. My brother had brought a projector… weiter lesen

European teams like Italy, England and France have not reached the quarterfinals. It is sad to see them leaving, but if they do not deserve to be in this round they have to go back to where they came from.
That leaves more hope for the team from Ghana although I do not think they will get into the finals. But Brazil and Germany, wow they are strong and playing very well. I like about them that they play as a team. The team work is visible unlike with other teams where players play alone with the ball. They work together for what they want. I know that Argentina is also doing well, but somehow I dont like them that much.
With others I am disppointed because they dont have the engergy anymore. At the beginning it was all there.
I also think since our team, Bafana Bafana is out,… weiter lesen

I think the quarterfinals will be enjoyable to watch. Because my family is going to watch the games with other relatives . I am tired to watch the games with them, they are commenting badly about my favorite players. The way they comment, they think it will help the players to play well. But I am also going to make a change and watch soccer at my friend’s place. Bongiwe has her own TV and there we can watch nicely. We are family friends and I can stay over. I am sick and tired of my brother, who knows everything. He has his own township soccer team and thinks he is a star. He screams when they do not make a goal. My father does not want us to blow the vuvuzela, it can hurt the mouth. At the beginning we did, but not all of us.
I am so… weiter lesen

Oh, my God Thursday was a fabulous day because we were only counting hours, minutes and seconds. It was Friday morning at 12hr is people in my community started blowing vuvuzelas and waving flags. I feel it it is here. The moment we were all waiting for has finally arrived. Then on Friday I prepare to go and watch the game in our area. All people were wearing South Africa T-Shirt. I went with my dada, sister, brother and uncle. I also met tourist from other countries. I also made some friends. My hear was broken after the game, but the tourist had to go, it was a pity that I do not have a computer use to communicate with them. My dad will not afford to buy me one.
There was a lot of noise caused by people blowing vuvuzelas and people waving flags. The part that I… weiter lesen
