Um seine neue Show “Life’s Too Short” vorzustellen, war der britische Comedian Ricky Gervais Gast in der Jon-Stewart-Show. Es folgte ein denkwürdiger Dialog über tierische Fortpflanzung, Panda-Porn und überhaupt die Weigerung von Pandas, ausreichend Sex zu haben:
“The thing is — right now, pandas are one of the most endangered species on the planet, right?
We’re all rushing around going let’s save the panda but they’re not meeting us halfway. They’re not having sex so that’s fundamental to surviving. When did they stop having sex? Why are they so like middle-class bohemian going, ‘we’re not going to have children!’ It’s ridiculous.
In der Folge lässt sich Gervais mehrere Ideen einfallen, um Pandas zu retten, die allesamt sehenswert sind:
„As long as the music’s loud enough, we won’t hear the world falling apart“ schrieb Derek Jarman 1977. Ganz in diesem Sinne behandelt der Popblog die Popkultur im weitesten Sinne und greift interessante Themen aus der Welt der Musik, des Films und der Gesellschaft auf.
