In einem Interview mit dem NME 1974 äußert sich Mick Jagger nicht sonderlich vorteilhaft über die Beatles:
“I never liked “Revolver” very much. I don’t like The Beatles. I’m not saying that I never liked anything that they did, and I’m not saying that they influence me. I didn’t particuarly like “Revolver” – I mean, “Good Day Sunshine”, there’s nothing in that. It’s rubbish.

The Beatles were so blasé and, at times, difficult. They got very big-headed.”
Im selben Interview äußert sich Jagger auch über David Bowie, dem seine künstlerisch beste Ära (Heroes, Low etc) 1974 noch bevorstand, eher kritisch. Zumindest empfiehlt sich Jagger nicht für einen Job als Pop-Nostradamus, wenn er meint:
“Bowie had something to offer that was sort of trendy… ‘ere… well… I wonder how long Bowie’s gonna last.”
