Gerade erst haben wir Mozes & The Firstborn als einen der interessanten neuen Acts auf dem Reeperbahnfestival gelobt, schon stehen die jungen Garagenstürmer für unsere My Favourite Records bereit:
* Your three favourite Punk singles/songs?

Iggy & The Stooges – Search And Destroy
Ramones – Beat On The Brat
MC5 – Looking At You

* A record that will make you dance?

The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Servo
* The best dutch band/artist ever?

This has to be Urban Dance Squad. They had a completely new sound and approach of being a band. Michel Schoots – known as Magic Stick when UDS was still around – is our producer and tells a lot about those days. Very inspiring.
* Your favourite song lyrics?

The Velvet Underground – The Gift
* The best “new” artist / band right now?

Kendrick Lamar. We listen to his record ‘Good Kid, M.A.A.D City’ a lot. His flow and lyrics are great and I believe he truly is doing a thing no other ‘new’ artist is doing right now. He was able to make a concept album that actually made sense. He gives kids like us, who have absolutely nothing to do with Compton, a glimpse of what it’s like without being pretentious.
* Your favourite song about rebellion/revolution?

John Lennon – Imagine
* The best song this year so far?

Ty Segall – Sleeper
* Your favourite song with a biblical reference?

Nick Cave – Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
* Your favourite movie about music?
Probably Crazy Heart, with Jeff Bridges playing ‘Bad’: an old worn-out country star. It’s got some great country tunes in it like the theme-song ‘The Weary Kind’, which was written by Ryan Bingham and T-Bone Burnett. Apart from that we are just in love with Jeff Bridges.
* Your favourite garage rock nugget from the 60ies?

Live For Today by The Grass Roots. It has one of the best breaks in it before the chorus kicks in for the final time. Actually recorded a cover of this song on an old Tascam 4-track
* The best song you’ve ever written / recorded?

We are really keen on the new Wannabe track I recorded a while ago. It’s the first track we recorded playing the instrumentals live. This gave us the opportunity to catch the best vibe and mix with what was really there. I’m also really proud of the video, which was released last week. Melle came up with the concept of the video that was based on David Lynch’s Inland Empire. Jeroen Dankers, a dear friend of us produced the video.
* Your favourite german song/record?

Unbeschreiblich Weiblich by Nina Haagen Band. That main riff.. Man, I’m in love with that.
* Your favourite record of all time?
Exile On Main St. The Rolling Stones are my all-time favourite band and this record has everything in it I like in a record. I can cry to Shine A Light, dance to Soul Survivor, laugh on Casino Boogie and get down on Loving Cup, you know?! It’s insane, really. The story behind this record is amazing too. If only I imagine them jamming in this big villa in France I already start to pee my pants. It’s just that great.
