Auch wenn im Großen und Ganzen Gitarrenmusik in den letzten Jahren eher ins Hintertreffen geraten ist, hat doch ein Subgenre eine Blütezeit erreicht wie seit den 60ern und 70ern nicht mehr: der Psych-Rock, der gleichermaßen von den Garagen Rock Nuggets und den Acid-Bands der 60er wie dem beginnenden Hardrock der frühen 70er beeinflusst ist – jede Band mit anderen Schwerpunkten auf dieser Linie der Vorbilder.
The Warlocks sind Veteranen des Psych-Rock und waren mit diesem Genregemisch schon am Start, als Tame Impala noch nicht laufen konnten. Seit gut 15 Jahren stellen sich die Warlocks in den Dienst des Psychedelischen, bringen aber auch immer den Holzhammer mit, falls der eine oder andere Kollege sich zu sehr im Dreamland aufhalten sollte.

Die 8mmBar* mit dem dazugehörigen Record Label 8mmMusik hat sich in Berlin zur Szene-Zentrale der Psych-Rock-Bands entwickelt und veranstaltet nun in den nächsten Wochen zum ersten Mal das Synästhesie-Festival, dessen Eröffnung die Warlocks am 8.9. bestreiten (ein weiterer Tipp für den 23.9.: die Crocodiles, die wiederum eher die Lo-Fi-Gitarren via Garage-Rock-Ecke abdecken).

jam of the witches, hurricane heart, shake the dope out, dope feels, isolation, red camera, heavy deavy album (because no one in the warlocks wanted to play it?!
