So, bleiben wir in dieser Rubrik mal bei jungen Punks aus New York. Letzte Woche hatten wir die sperrige, intellektuelle Variante der Parquet Courts, heute die auf-die-Fresse-Punks von Cerebral Ballzy, die in diesen Tagen ihr zweites Album veröffentlichen und auf eine vom Popblog präsentierte Tour gehen (Daten siehe unten!). Unser Aufsehen hatten Cerebral Ballzy damals mit ihrer Debütsingle erregt…

…und prompt Anfang 2011 in unsere Bands-to-watch-Edition geschafft. In der Zwischenzeit ist auch Strokes-Frontmann Jules Casablancas Fan, veröffentlicht das zweite Album der Band um Honor Titus auf seinem eigenen Label Cult Records und nennt Cerebral Ballzy “probably the coolest band in the world at the moment, a truly legit modern hardcore/punk band, and by far my favorite”.
Dass Sänger Honor Titus trotz seiner jungen Jahre ein erstaunlich tiefgehende Musikvorlieben hat, beweist die Nominierung der “besten deutschen Platte ever”: Palais Schaumburg mit “Wir bauen eine neue Stadt”. Wer hätte gedacht, dass man selbst in New York 2014 noch so wunderbare Perlen der deutschen Avantgarde-Punk-Zeit kennt!
