Die Dandy Warhols haben 1997 (!) meinen Song des Jahres geschrieben: „Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth“. Es dauerte allerdings noch weitere vier Jahre bis dank einer Vodafone-Werbung die Band aus Portland auf einmal zu Weltstars wurden und mit „Bohemian Like You“ einen ewigen Radiohit produzierten. „Welcome To The Monkey House“, das darauffolgende 2003er Album war aus kommerzieller Sicht vielleicht etwas enttäuschend, ist für mich aber bis heute die beste Dandys-Platte. Bemerkenswert darauf – neben dem von Sänger Courtney Taylor-Taylor unten im Fragebogen als besten Dandys-Song nominierten „I Am Sound“ – ie Kollaboration mit Evan Dando „You Were The Last High“:
Seitdem veröffentlichten die Dandy Warhols etliche weitere Alben, gerne auch mit kuriosen Titeln wie „Odditorium or Warlords of Mars“ (2005) oder „Tafelmuzik Means More When You’re Alone“ (2020). Gerade ist die neueste Platte „Rockmaker“ erschienen. Mein favourite track auf Rockmaker? „Love Thyself“:

It’s an interesting and quite perfect feeling of reality. It’s not necessarily about music per se, so much as it is about a scene that is bound together by music and style.
* Your opinion on Morrissey?
Wow, that is a complicated question for how few words are in it. As a lyricist, he is one of the greatest ever. As an icon he is one of the greatest ever. As a person he is up there with Glenn Danzig as far as having a huge target for people to take potshots at but at the end of the day, the world is a way cooler place for having Morrissey.

I really have no idea. “Danzig With Myself”or “I Am Sound“
* Your favourite german song/record?
Das Model.
* Primal Scream, The Brian Jonestown Massacre or The Lemonheads– which one do you prefer and why?
Primal Scream. The production is so groundbreaking and always well constructed and mixed. But really, I don’t know how can one even say why one likes one song and not another much less while one prefers one great artist over others
* Your favourite record of all time?
Besides the entire Dandy Warhol‘s catalog, I’d have to say: Love and Rockets “Express“
