Die in Liverpool gegründete Band Ladytron war Anfang der Nuller Jahre prägend für den Electroclash-Sound, der geprägt war von einer Wiederentdeckung der kühlen Synthies aus der Human-League-Ära, verbunden mit einer Indie-Attitude von New Order und Kraftwerk’schen Sounds.
„Playgirl“ von 2001 ist immer noch einer der unzerstörbaren ewigen Pophits dieser kurz mal so hell leuchtenden Szene und das dazugehörige Album „604“ auf Plattenlänge vielleicht sogar die überzeugendste Zusammenstellung einer Band aus diesem Genre (das ja immer mehr ein „Singles“-Genre war). Mit „Paradise“ erscheint nun schon das achte Album der nach einem Roxy-Music-Song benannten Band.
Stereo Total – Europa neurotisch
Daniel: Oh I loved Stereo Total. They were one of the things I was listening to before Ladytron started. Poor Françoise. She was very kind to us when we met in the early days, though our friends at Bungalow Records, when we first started playing shows in Europe. We played at Popkomm in Köln together I think. As for the song, it is a rather accurate critique, but Europe seems far less neurotic than certain other places right now.

Daniel: From Die Türen right? I like this a lot. Reminds me of those early days too. This is the kind of thing that only Germany does properly.

Daniel: I just checked out some of their other stuff. I really liked „Diese Villa ist verlassen“. Seem like an interesting group with a novel view of the world.
Steintor Herrenchor – Postkarten
Daniel: This is cool, I can’t find any information about the group, but the plague mask breaks through the VHS aesthetic so I’m assuming they’re a modern band.
Gwen Dolyn – Dr Murkes
Daniel: This is cute. C86-y.
