The Skids waren die prägende Punkband Schottlands zu Zeiten der Punkexplosion 1977 ff.
Zwei Jahre nach ihrer Gründung erreichten die Skids sogar die britischen Single-Top-Ten mit “Into The Valley”, einem auch heute noch wuchtigen und unverbrauchten Punksong der ersten Ära:
Die Originalversion des darauf folgenden 1979er Albums “Days In Europe” nahm dann die Internet-Shitstorms unserer Zeit vorweg und wurde wegen der Anlehnung an ein Plakat zu den Olympischen Spielen von 1936 Naziästhetik unterstellt. Das Albumcover wurde geändert und “Days In Europe” erschien zudem mit leicht veränderter Tracklist für den internationalen Markt. Bereits 1981, aber nach vier Alben in drei Jahren, lösten sich The Skids auf. Nach den üblichen Reunion-Shows in den letzten Jahren erscheint nun mit “Burning Cities” die erste neue Platte seit 37 Jahren.

Love their power and energy and passion.
They have a touch of madness and make more great sounds as a two piece than most bands could dream of.

Undertones
They came from the fury of the conflict in Derry in Northern Ireland and gave us beautiful pop songs.

Great insight to backstage rock’n’roll seen through the eyes of groupies and journalists. Its about being a Fan.
