Erneut sehr gelungen!
BIG SPECIAL habe ich sechs deutschsprachige Songs vorgespielt:
Die Nerven – Frei
Very cool. I love the tension buidling and when the verse kicks in with the angular bassline and jagged riffs. They remind me of a band from the UK called HECK in their style and guitar tone. I bet they put on a lethal live show.
GEWALT – LIMITER
Bleak and industrial. Perfect. Couldn’t be more bang up my street. Big fan of the ultra processed drums. That guitar riff could have been fresh off a Fontaines DC album. Love the droning repetitive nature of it as well, it makes the big release at the end hit twice as hard.
Die Verlierer – Notausgang
The production on this one is interesting. I like the raw, clipping bass tone and soaked guitar tone in the solo. It makes it feel so much more old school than it is, almost could have been released in the 80’s. It’s moody and sleazy in good measure
Krokodil – grau
Somewhere between Sleaford Mods and Protomartyr. Pretty cool. I like the drums and the general slow build of it all.
GRIM 104 – Crystal Meth in Brandenburg
I’ve not ever listened to any German hip hop before. I can’t say anything about the lyrics, but his flow is interesting. It sounds like a pained lament over the hopeful but sparse sounding beat. Not my usual vibe to be honest, but I’d check out some more of their work.
MESSER – TAUCHER
Some funky Talking Heads inspired stuff on this track. Big fan. The bass player is fully stealing the show with that riff work! Feels very current and a band i’d defo check out live.
