Black Country New Road

Mit ihrem zweiten Song “Sunglasses” veröffentlicht die junge britische Band Black Country, New Road ein neunminütiges Monster, das zwischen Folk, Post-Rock, Americana und Shellac einen eigenen, weirden Platz findet. Ähnlich wie bei Cassels, der Zweimannband aus Oxford, finden Elemente zusammen, die nicht passen dürften und sind die mehr gesprochenen als gesungenen Lyrics der Schlüssel zur Zugänglichkeit. Die Songs von Black Country, New Road sind noch komplexer, spielen mit Geigen, Saxophon, Synthies wie Gitarren – und vor allem diesen Lyrics:

Die Debütsingle “Athen’s, France” wurde auf Speedy Wunderground* veröffentlicht und findet sich dort in guter Gesellschaft mit Black Midi, Warmduscher und Squid wieder. Black Country, New Road sind eine der spannendsten, weirdesten neuen britischen Bands.
